Go to the Advanced tab below your page or post in Yoast SEO’s meta box or the sidebar under the block editor. You’ll find the Canonical URL Field where you can enter your original article URL. This is the one that you want search engines to see.

Yoast SEO will create a self-referencing Canonical for you if you don’t have one. This will mean that the article will point directly to itself. SEO is more effective when self-referencing canonicals work.
